What storms here actually do to trees
The December 2025 windstorm put trees down across North Idaho and Eastern Washington, and we spent weeks afterward cutting wind-thrown fir and pine off roofs, fences, and access roads. That storm was unusual in scale, but the pattern repeats every winter in smaller doses. Heavy wet snow loads limbs until they snap or the whole top folds. Saturated ground lets root plates tip, so a tree that stood through the wind fails quietly two days later. Beetle-killed pines shed tops in gusts that healthy trees shrug off. A tree on the house: what happens first
A tree resting on a structure is under load, and cutting it wrong makes things worse. We start by reading where the weight sits, then take the load off in small pieces so nothing shifts or rolls. The grapple saw on our mini excavator lets us cut and lift sections without putting a climber underneath the tree, and for bigger trees across a roofline we rig or crane the trunk off in controlled picks. We are not roofers and will not pretend to be, but we get the tree off without adding damage, and we can usually clear access the same visit.

When a tree damages a structure, your homeowners policy usually gets involved, and adjusters want documentation. We photograph the scene before we touch anything, keep photos through the work, and write invoices that describe exactly what was done and why. If your adjuster has questions about the removal, we answer them. We cannot tell you what your policy covers, but we can make sure the paperwork side of the tree work is complete, dated, and easy to hand over. Most of our storm customers only do this once. We do it every winter, so lean on us for the parts we know.

How the job goes

Call and describe it
Tell us what fell, what it is on, and if anything is still hanging. Trees on occupied structures and blocked access go to the front of the line.
- STEP 2
Make it safe
We take the load off the structure or clear the road in controlled pieces, and stabilize anything still hanging or split.
- STEP 3
Finish the removal
Once the hazard is handled, we remove the rest of the tree and any other storm damage, either the same day or on a scheduled return.

Document and clean up
You get photos from before, during, and after, plus a detailed invoice for your insurance claim. Debris is chipped and hauled.

Do you come out at night or on weekends?
During storm events we keep a crew on call, and a tree on an occupied house gets a response regardless of the hour. Outside of active storms, call and we will give you an honest answer about timing. Being based in Blanchard means we are rarely more than a short drive from the job.
Will insurance pay for the tree removal?
Usually the removal is covered when the tree hit a structure, and usually it is not when the tree just fell in the yard. Your adjuster makes that call, not us. What we do is document everything with photos and a detailed invoice so the claim has what it needs. Ask your carrier before assuming either way.
A tree is leaning after the storm but has not fallen. Is that an emergency?
If the lean is new, yes, treat it like one. A fresh lean means roots have moved, and the tree may finish falling in the next wind or on a calm day. Stay out from under it, keep vehicles and kids clear, and call us. Looking at a leaner costs you nothing.
Can you get a tree off my roof without causing more damage?
That is the whole point of how we work. The tree comes off in small, controlled picks with rigging, the grapple saw, or a crane, never dragged or rolled off. Some roof damage from the fall itself is already done, but our job is to add zero to it while removing the weight.
