A prairie town growing fast
Rathdrum sits on the Rathdrum Prairie, over the aquifer that supplies drinking water to more than half a million people across Kootenai and Spokane counties, and the prairie is filling in fast with new construction. That growth drives a specific kind of tree work. New subdivisions push into the timbered edges of the prairie, which means building lots to clear, individual pines to remove where they conflict with foundations and driveways, and stumps to grind after the builders move on. On the established side of town, older yards carry mature pines that predate the boom and now need trimming or removal as they age over homes that were built close to them.

Can you clear a building lot in Rathdrum before construction?
Yes, that is regular work for us here. We remove the trees, deal with stumps by grinding or excavation depending on the build plan, and leave the lot ready for dirt work. If you flag your house footprint and utility runs, we can keep the trees worth keeping and clear only what the build requires.
What goes into tree removal pricing in Rathdrum?
The size and condition of the tree, what surrounds it, and access for equipment. New-subdivision lots are often tight, with neighbors close on both sides, which means rigging instead of felling. The builder left stumps all over my new lot. Can you grind them?
Yes. We grind stumps below grade so you can seed lawn, set fence posts, or pour flatwork over the spot. Grinding a batch in one visit costs meaningfully less per stump than doing them one at a time, so it is worth walking the lot and flagging all of them before we come.
Wind cracked one of my windbreak pines. Does the whole row have to go?
Usually not. We take out the failed and structurally compromised trees and evaluate the rest individually; a windbreak with a gap still works. Sometimes the smarter move is removing the worst few and trimming the remainder to reduce sail. We will walk the row with you and price the options separately.
